Working in a variety of capacities, including as a Community Planner, a Heritage Planner, the City’s first Parks Planner, Parks Manager, Parks, Recreation and Culture Director, General Manager of Community Services and the Deputy CAO, Richard has had an incredible impact on building amenities and programs in this community - especially in the area of parks, recreation and culture. In addition, Richard worked on several city and park plans that have helped shape our city in its growth. He has been an integral force behind these beloved community assets: • the integrated trail system we have now, including the Parkway and E&N Trails, waterfront trail and Cable Bay/Jack Point • Neck Point Park, Linley Valley Park, Oliver Woods Community Centre, Stadium District, Nanaimo Ice Centre, Harewood Centennial Park, Westwood Lake improvements, Beban Park improvements, bike parks, artificial turfs, various playgrounds and neighbourhood parks • partnerships that resulted in enhanced services by working with a variety of sports, culture and community organizations This is a very small list of a very long list of career accomplishments.
