Winter Park and Trail Conditions

Summary

With the recent heavy rains and winds, the City of Nanaimo’s Parks, Recreation and Environment Department would like to remind the public to be careful and use caution when using trails, boardwalks, stairs and bridges. Many of the trails and even playground equipment are wet and slippery this time of year. In addition, the recent weather systems have led to broken branches and other debris on the trails and in the parks making the terrain hazardous.

To report concerns or issues in the parks and on the trails, please contact Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Environment at 250-756-5200 or email askpre@nanaimo.ca.

Quotes

"We want to encourage all users of the parks and trails to use caution and to be aware of the conditions that come as a result of the unpredictable weather we often see this time of year. With our recent heavy rains and winds, we are getting lots of reports of broken branches, exposed roots and leaning trees. City crews will work to clear debris from parks and trails as quickly as possible, but please be careful."
