2015 Culture & Heritage Award Recipients

City to recognize excellence in culture and heritage

Summary

Each year, the City of Nanaimo recognizes individuals and groups that make Nanaimo a more culturally vibrant city. Council has approved the following recipients for the 2015 Culture & Heritage Awards:

Excellence in Culture - Mr. Grant Leier and Ms. Nixie Barton Honour in Culture - Ms. Arlene Blundell Emerging Cultural Leader - Ms. Amanda Scott

Recognition of these recipients will take place at a special awards ceremony to be held at the Port Theatre on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Tickets and ceremony details will be advertised prior to the event. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • The Excellence in Culture Award was created to honor an organization or individual that has achieved regional and/or national recognition in the field of arts and culture (visual, performing or literary arts).
  • The Honour in Culture Award was created to honour a group, corporation or individual that is known for their dedication and support of the development of the cultural fabric of Nanaimo.
  • The Emerging Cultural Leader Award was created by the City to recognize up-and-coming Nanaimo-based cultural leaders. The award recognizes that a thriving Nanaimo cultural community includes leaders who choose to live and contribute to the cultural life of Nanaimo.
