NEWS RELEASE - Distributed June 9, 2017 10:00 AM
Summary
Changes to the Province's Home Owner Grant program have been introduced for this year's property taxes. Key changes include:
You can now give permission for someone else to apply for your Home Owner Grant on your behalf as your 'Agent'. Your Agent will include their contact information on the grant application but no formal paperwork, such as a Power of Attorney Agreement, is required with the grant.
The Province has expanded the eligibility criteria for persons with disabilities to qualify for the Additional Home Owner Grant. If you haven't qualified for the grant in the past but you are a person with disabilities or are living with a spouse or relative with disabilities, make sure to review the new eligibility criteria. The Province's website is the best place to get this information: www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant
