Opportunities available to vote in upcoming by-election

Summary
A number of opportunities are available for Nanaimo residents and property owners to vote in the upcoming by-election to fill the vacant seat on City Council. In addition to the 10 locations distributed throughout the city on voting day, there are opportunities to vote by mail or on two different advance voting days.
The following voting places will be open on general voting day, Saturday, July 8, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (10am to 6pm on Protection Island).
- Chase River Elementary School, 1503 Cranberry Avenue
- Departure Bay Activity Centre, 1415 Wingrove Street
- City of Nanaimo Service & Resource Centre, 411 Dunsmuir Street
- Georgia Avenue Elementary School, 625 Georgia Avenue
- McGirr Elementary School, 6199 McGirr Road
- Nanaimo Alliance Church, 1609 Meredith Road
- Nanaimo Aquatic Centre, 741 Third Street
- Randerson Ridge Elementary School, 6021 Nelson Rd
- Beban Park Social Centre, Auditorium B, 2300 Bowen Rd
- Protection Island Fire Hall, 26 Pirates Lane (10am to 6pm)
Residents wishing to participate in advance voting can do so from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on June 28 and July 5 at the Nanaimo Alliance Church, 1609 Meredith Road.

- Mail-in voting is available for those expecting to be absent or who have a physical disability, illness or injury that affects their ability to vote in person. Applications are available through the City's Legislative Services department.
- Voter registration is available the day of voting. Residents wishing to see if they on the voters list can visit nanaimo.ca/votersearch

Quick Facts
- On election day, voters can choose from any of the voting places listed on the City's website. The choice is yours.
- To be eligible to vote in the upcoming by-election, you must be 18 or older, a Canadian Citizen and resident of the City of Nanaimo or a registered City of Nanaimo property owner for at least 30 days before voting day.
- If you’re not registered, bring 2 pieces of ID that prove your residency and identity, including one with your signature.
