NEWS RELEASE - Distributed May 29, 2018 8:00 AM
City of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation invites families to "take a moment" this summer and participate in the many free summer programs being offered.
“We’re looking forward to another fun-filled summer in Nanaimo’s parks,” Deb Beck, Recreation Coordinator said, "This year’s solid line up of events provides many opportunities for locals and visitors to enjoy our parks, get some exercise, fit in some family fun and learn something new."
Find the Golden Bucket kicked off in May and will run through to July 26. Each Wednesday morning, a clue to a new park where the bucket is hiding is posted. Once participants solve the location clue, they'll search for the bucket. Inside the bucket will be a question. Send answers to parksandrecreation@nanaimo.ca to be entered to win weekly prizes and a grand prize of a kayak experience for six people.

The Concerts in the Park series kicks off July 4 with lunchtime and evening performances in Maffeo Sutton Park and at the Bowen Park Amphitheatre. With an exciting line up of entertainers to watch and many different music styles to pick from, there is a show for everyone.
