There are Lots of Ways to Recycle in Nanaimo!
Explore the options available for recycling and reuse
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed June 19, 2018 10:00 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo has many different ways for residents to obtain information on local recycling opportunities.
The Nanaimo Recycles mobile app not only gives users notifications for their collection days, it's "What Goes Where" function provides a list of places residents can take recyclables not accepted at the curb. On the City of Nanaimo's website, residents can find information on recycling depot locations under "Recycling Depots", yard waste locations under "Garbage and Yard Waste Drop Off" and the "Garbage Calendar" has information for locations for specific products/materials. Delivered to residents' homes earlier this month, the 2018-2019 Garbage Calendar includes information about the Nanaimo Recycles app as well as recycling depot locations. Additionally, the Regional District of Nanaimo (rdn.bc.ca) and Recycling Council of BC (rcbc.bc.ca) websites host information on Provincial Product Stewardship depots and private sector recycling opportunities in Nanaimo.
For reuse of used household items, clothing and sporting goods, residents should contact local thrift stores or charities to find out what they accept.
To find more information on Nanaimo's solid waste program, visit the City website or call 250-758-5222.
