Celebrate World Rivers Day in Nanaimo

Summary

The fourth Sunday of September is Rivers Day, a day to celebrate the world's waterways and their importance to all life on earth. This year, the City of Nanaimo, Nanaimo Area Land Trust (NALT) and Nanaimo River Watershed Round Table are pleased to host a number of tours and activities both before and on Rivers Day, September 23.

Activities for Rivers Day include an interpretive guided stream walk, live music by local bands, community information and interactive booths, $20 tree vouchers for sale, a draw to win a re-purposed rain barrel tote and a salmon BBQ hosted by NALT. Several tours, such as the Watershed & Water Treatment Plant Tour, River Kayaking and Estuary Raft Float, hosted by Nanaimo River Watershed Roundtable will take place Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 (pre-registration is required).
