Stay safe for Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed October 23, 2018 1:29 PM
Summary
With Halloween and Guy Fawkes (or Bonfire) Night approaching, Nanaimo Fire Rescue has a couple of reminders to ensure each night is safe for everyone. Those planning a bonfire for Halloween on October 31, 2018 and/or for Guy Fawkes Night on November 5, 2018 must first obtain a bonfire permit. In addition, the sale, possession and discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited.
The regulations for bonfires and application forms can be found on www.nanaimo.ca. The forms may be submitted in person to Service and Resource Centre building at 411 Dunsmuir Street or the Fire Command and Business Centre at 580 Fitzwilliam Street, but the fee can only be paid in person at the Service and Resource Centre building. The deadline for submission is 12:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31 for Halloween and 12:00 pm on Monday November 5 for Guy Fawkes Night. Fees for these one-time-only special event permits have to be paid prior to issuing a valid permit.
Link to Strategic Plan: The City of Nanaimo is committed to Public Safety.
