Embracing 'Complete Streets' design principles in Nanaimo
Building roads that move people - not just cars
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed March 22, 2019 11:51 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo is currently undertaking the creation of a Complete Streets Policy, guidelines, and updated cross-sectional road standards. Complete Streets are designed and operated to enable safe and comfortable road use for all, regardless of age or ability. These guidelines will not transform the City overnight, but they will help ensure we focus on building a better and safer Nanaimo for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists.
Interested in learning more and wanting to chat in person? Wanting your opinions and concerns heard? The City needs your input! A project webpage has been posted, a specific project email has been created, a survey made available, and a number of community events lined up to gather as much information as possible.
This Saturday, March 23rd from 1-4pm, the project manager will be at Woodgrove Centre to chat with the community about 'Complete Streets Guidelines' & the 'Metral Drive Complete Street Utility & Corridor Upgrades'.
Check the website often for project updates and to find out when we will be out in the community.
