Council adopts 2019-2022 Strategic Plan

Plan set priorities for remainder of Council's term

Summary

Nanaimo City Council has adopted their Strategic Plan, which will drive the City forward through 2022. Work on the plan began in early 2019 by identifying a vision and four strategic themes Council have chosen to focus on during their term. The process of reviewing the plan involved a number of workshops and feedback from the public.

Under each of the four themes - Environmental Responsibility, Governance Excellence, Livability and Economic Health - Council has set out a priority, or goal, and key areas to focus on. Finally, the plan includes actions to be taken to accomplish each priority identified under the four themes along with a timeline for each action. Among the actions, some highlights include a Climate Resiliency Study, undertaking a review and update of Council policies and bylaws, developing an Economic Development strategy, implementing the Affordable Housing Strategy and developing the 1 Port Drive property.
