Upcoming work to lead to temporary closure on Departure Bay Road

Summary

On Monday, August 19, 2019 crews working for the City of Nanaimo will begin a slope stabilization project on Departure Bay Road. During this time, Departure Bay Road between Newton Street and Little John Way will be closed and a detour will be in place. The work is planned to take two weeks and the road is expected be open at the end of August.

Key Points

Departure Bay Road between Newton Street and Little John Way will be closed to through traffic between August 19 and August 30, 2019.
A detour will be in place 24-hours a day, including weekends and holidays via Newton Street and Bay Street.
All local traffic, transit and emergency vehicles will have access though the site during construction.
