NEWS RELEASE - Distributed September 3, 2019 11:30 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo is currently seeking proposals for temporary outdoor art for display in public places beginning in 2020. All artists are invited to submit their proposals through "CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR TEMPORARY OUTDOOR ART NO. 2474", which is available on the City's website at www.nanaimo.ca/bid-opportunities. The deadline for proposals is Monday, October 21, 2019 at 3:00 pm.
Since 2010, the City of Nanaimo has been involved in a dynamic and evolving public art program that enhances and animates our City’s parks. Each year, outdoor artwork is installed in public places on a temporary basis for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. The parks essentially become outdoor art galleries and showcase artworks for a limited period of time.
Link to Strategic Plan: Installation of temporary public art furthers the goals of "Livability" in the City's Corporate Strategic Plan by continuing to support the downtown core as an Arts District.
