Community invited to "Activate 2022"
First annual New Year's Day event at Beban Park

Summary
The City of Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Culture department is "launching" into 2022 with its first ever New Year's Day event held at Beban Park on Saturday, January 1 from 12-5 pm. The community is invited to start the new by actively participating in a variety of activities. These include:
- Swimming at Beban Leisure Pool (main pool is closed for repair)
- Skating at Frank Crane Arena (Family Skating) and Cliff McNabb Arena (Stick 'n' Puck)
- A StoryWalk on ice
- Fitness sampler classes
- Arts and crafts
- Gymnastics/tumbling
- Bouncy castles
- Virtual reality gaming courtesy of VRKAde
- Airhouse trick station courtesy of Airhouse Nanaimo
- Nintendo Switch gaming
- Inflatable games
- Roaming entertainment
Food trucks will be on site in the Beban breezeway. These include Tacomania, Donairnutz and Alkhalid Food. In addition, West Coast Coffee will be selling food and refreshments in the pool lobby and in Frank Crane Arena.
Tickets are available on the day of the event or in advance at Beban Park Pool office. Tickets are only $10 or purchase a "festive five" pack for $35, and tickets would make great stocking stuffers.

Please note that proof of vaccination is required for all participants 12+, mask use is required in all indoor activities for age 5+ and that Activate is in compliance with all Provincial Health Order requirements.
