Final phase for REIMAGINE NANAIMO underway
Provide feedback on the draft City Plan - Nanaimo ReImagined
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed March 1, 2022 11:00 AM
Summary
Nearly two years after the launch of the extensive REIMAGINE NANAIMO public engagement process, the City of Nanaimo is entering its third and final phase. With it comes a new draft plan for our community: City Plan - Nanaimo ReImagined.
Public engagement during this phase will focus on a review of and feedback on the draft plan. From March 1 to April 8, 2022, residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft plan including an online survey, as well as a statistically valid mail-out survey.
The draft City Plan combines, replaces and updates a number of existing policy documents and provides a more coordinated city-wide policy direction. In addition to land use policy, the plan's content is guided and structured around the following five goals:
- A Green Nanaimo – Resilient and Regenerative Ecosystems
- A Connected Nanaimo – Equitable Access and Mobility
- A Healthy Nanaimo – Community Wellness and Livability
- An Empowered Nanaimo – Reconciliation, Representation and Inclusion
- A Prosperous Nanaimo – Thriving and Resilient Economy
Once Phase 3 of REIMAGINE NANAIMO is complete, Council will receive an engagement summary. Following that, a final version of City Plan - Nanaimo ReImagined will be presented to Council for their consideration with bylaw adoption thereafter.
