Nanaimo Votes 2022: General Local Election nomination packages available Aug 2

Summary

Those interested in running as a candidate in the 2022 General Local Election will be able to pick nomination packages for mayor, councillor and elector organizations starting August 2, 2022. Packages will be available for pick up from the Legislative Services Department located on the first floor of City Hall. Packages will also be available electronically upon request by emailing elections@nanaimo.ca. Those picking up packages will be required to provide their name and contact information however, their names and contact information will not be publicly released.

The nomination package contains all the information an interested person needs to know in order to become a candidate to run in the election, including rules regarding election signage, required number of nominators, nomination deposits and other applicable resource material. There is no fee to pick up a nomination package however, a nomination document filing fee will be charged when filing nomination documents.
