Nanaimo Votes: 2022 General Local Election preliminary results now available

Summary

The City of Nanaimo is pleased to release preliminary results of the 2022 General Local Election for Mayor and Council. With a total of 12,390 votes, Leonard Krog is the frontrunner for the position of Mayor. Preliminary results for the eight seats on Council are as follows:

Sheryl Armstrong (10260 votes)
Tyler Brown (6805 votes)
Hilary Eastmure (5650 votes)
Ben Geselbracht (8383 votes)
Erin Hemmens (7497 votes)
Paul Manly (10366 votes)
Janice Perrino (7131 votes)
Ian Thorpe (8040 votes)

Key Points

Voter turnout was 24.4 per cent of registered voters. In comparison, voter turnout for the 2018 election was 40.8 per cent of registered voters.
At the advance polls and on General Election Day, a combined total of 18,664 ballots were cast at 12 polling stations.
