Partake in the 2023 Canada Day festivities in Maffeo Sutton Park

Summary
Canada Day festivities are planned in Maffeo Sutton Park from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 1.
The event begins with the Celebration of Flags and is followed by the Opening Ceremonies before entertainment kicks off at 11:40 a.m.
The main stage will feature performances by Doctors of Rock n Roll, Cross Parallel and Cameron Whitcomb of American Idol fame.
The cultural community stage will highlight a range of exceptional dance groups, including performances from Vancouver Island Square Dancers, Nanaimo Ballroom Dance Society, Flamenco Dancers, Nanaimo Scottish Country Dancers and Vibe Dance Studio.
Throughout the day, the community can enjoy complimentary bouncy castles, crafts, interactive community booths, kayak sampling, face painting, a photo booth and Canada Day cupcakes, courtesy of Order of the Eastern Star (limited availability). A variety of delicious food vendors will be on site as well.
The Regional District of Nanaimo is offering free ridership to the Canada Day event. Transit schedules for the day will be online shortly. In addition, there will be a free bike valet parking service operated through Hub City Cycles from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Residents are reminded that there is no vehicle parking available on-site at Maffeo Sutton Park on Canada Day (except limited accessible parking). There is parking at the Bastion Street Parkade, Harbour Front Parkade, Port of Nanaimo Centre Parkade and at the Wallace and Wentworth Parking Lot.
