NEWS RELEASE - Distributed June 19, 2024 10:00 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo is recruiting for one volunteer at-large position on the Design Advisory Panel. The panel considers development permits in relation to guidelines, principles and conformance with the Official Community Plan and reports their findings and opinions to Council. It also provides independent, objective recommendations to the applicant, City staff and Council aimed at improving matters of design that affect the public realm.
Successful applicants for the Design Advisory Panel will be familiar with urban design guidelines, design principles and have the skills necessary to assist staff in establishing guidelines to ensure that the form and character of future developments is of high quality and meets the needs of the community.
Applications can be filled out on the Design Advisory page on the City website or picked up from Legislative Services in City Hall (455 Wallace Street) and will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the Design Advisory Panel meeting schedule, mandate and terms of reference on the City website prior to applying.
Link to Strategic Plan: Select Committees enable Council to receive advice, ideas and feedback from persons other than Council members and staff to ensure that good governance and corporate excellence continue to be foundational to our work, allowing the City to provide excellent service delivery and innovative, expeditious information-based decision making.
