The second Car Trunk Sale of the season is just around the corner!

Summary

Bargain hunters will find trunks full of treasure at the City of Nanaimo's Car Trunk Sale on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents looking for a bargain or a unique buy, can join over 100 vendors selling used items from the trunk of their car in Vancouver Island University's parking lots L and M. This free-to-attend reuse event aims to give unwanted household items a longer lease on life and to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Key Points

  • The Trunk Sale promotes the reuse and recycling of unwanted “garage sale” type items. No retail-type booths or sale of new items will be permitted. The only new items permitted for sale are items made from recycled materials.
  • The trunk sale can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by giving used household items a new lease on life.

Quotes

"Looking for an inflatable pizza floatie? Or perhaps a macrame plant holder, a gently used popcorn popper, or a slew of new to you Christmas decorations? The Trunk Sale may be just the shopping destination you are looking for, and is sure to have bargains on items you didn't even know you needed. Best of all? It’s not just about saving money; by rehoming quality used goods like this, we’re saving them from the landfill, and that’s a win for our entire community."
