Celebrate the season with fun holiday activities in Nanaimo
Skate into Winter Wonderland and kick off the new year with Activate 2025

Summary
There’s no shortage of festive fun this holiday season with Parks, Recreation and Culture, offering activities for the whole community to enjoy.
Frank Crane Arena is hosting its annual "Winter Wonderland" where it will be transformed into a West Coast Winter Wonderland. These skating sessions take place over seven days starting December 24 and again December 26-31. Each session, including skates and helmet rentals, are free thanks to the generous sponsorship of local community organizations and businesses. Specific times and corresponding sponsors are posted on the City of Nanaimo website.
This is a New Year's Day family event held at Beban Park from 12-5 pm and includes swimming at Beban Pool, skating at Frank Crane Arena, as well as arts, crafts, an ice sculpture demonstration, sports, inflatables, a StoryWalk, a magic show and more at Beban Park Social Centre. There will also be a concession and food trucks on site. Participants are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance at any Nanaimo recreation centre or online using barcode 134029. The cost is $10 per person with children 2 years and under free.
Drop-in swimming, skating and gymnasium sports will be available throughout the holiday season as well. Please check the City of Nanaimo website for the latest options and schedules.
