City of Nanaimo message to the Filipino community

The City of Nanaimo extends its deepest sympathies to the Filipino community following the tragic events at this past weekend's Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver. Our hearts are with the families, friends and all those affected who are mourning and recognize how deeply this loss may be felt here at home.

"On behalf of Nanaimo City Council and staff, I want to express our profound sorrow to everyone impacted by the tragedy on a day that was to celebrate the resilience of Filipinos," said Mayor Leonard Krog. "To all those affected, please know that your City stands with you — offering our condolences, our compassion and our support during this extremely difficult time."
