Free, fun event for the whole family

Summary

This Father's Day, bring the whole family for a free, fun event at Westwood Lake Park. As part of BC's Family Fishing Weekend, the City of Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Environment department is hosting a Family Fishing Day on Sunday, June 15 from 11 am until 2 pm.

There will be a lot of activities for the whole family to partake in including games, crafts and, of course, learning how to fish. Also Search and Rescue Demos will be held at 12 pm, a trout release at 1 pm and fly tying demos with Island Water Fly Fishers will take place throughout the event.

Family Fishing Day is in partnership with Freshwater Fisheries, Habitat Conservation Foundation, Nanaimo Search & Rescue, Two Men and Their Fishing Rods, Island Waters Fisheries, Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo Fish and Game Protective Association, Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters and Nanaimo Recycling Exchange.
