Wentworth and Pine Sanitary Sewer Upgrades

Project Description

Copcan Civil LP, in partnership with the City of Nanaimo, is set to undertake essential upgrades to the sanitary sewer and water systems at the intersection of Pine Street and Wentworth Street. The work will include replacement of approximately 80 meters of sanitary sewer pipe and 60 meters of water main which have reached the end of their service life.

General Considerations

Mobilization and existing utility locates are being performed currently. Watermain construction will begin on Wentworth September 3rd.

Pine Street Closure: A one-day full closure of the intersection of Pine and Wentworth is anticipated around September 10th to 12th (9am - 5pm). The exact date will be confirmed closer to the time. Please be prepared to use alternate routes throughout the second week of September.

Residents directly adjacent to the construction area on Wentworth should be prepared for a potential water shutdown lasting up to 8 hours. This is likely to occur for one day around September 9th - 10th (8 am – 5 pm). Residents will be provided more specific notice closer to the date.

Safety:

• Please exercise increased caution when near the construction zone.

• Adhere to all construction signage and instructions from traffic control personnel.

• Educate children on the risks associated with construction sites, especially the dangers posed by heavy machinery.

Construction Value: $300,000.00
