Green Transportation

Burning fossil fuels for transportation is the largest source of community greenhouse gas emissions in Nanaimo. Transportation and Mobility accounted for 63% of Nanaimo’s community emissions in 2017. Nanaimo residents can lower emissions by reducing gas-powered vehicle trips.  Residents instead can walk, cycle, use transit, or switch to an electric vehicle.
