Filming in Nanaimo
Step 1
The first point of contact for filming within Nanaimo is the Economic Development Officer (EDO). The Officer will provide coordination with various stakeholders and can determine if you are required to submit a Film Permit Application. The Economic Development Officer can be contacted at the address below.
411 Dunsmuir St. Nanaimo
Phone: 250-755-4465
Fax: 250-755-4437
Email: amrit.manhas@nanaimo.ca
Step 2
After consultation with the EDO, and if it is determined you require a Film Permit, please complete the following:
- Film Permit Cover Sheet
- Film Permit Application and Location Worksheet
- Business License (non-resident application)
- Liability Insurance
The following liability insurance requirements must be satisfied in order to film within the City of Nanaimo:
- The City must be named as additional insured in the film production company's liability policy.
- The amount of liability insurance should be $5,000,000.00. Smaller amounts, but not less than $2,000,000.00, may be acceptable under circumstances where City exposure is lower, as determined by the City. The City reserves the right to set an appropriate amount of liability insurance.
- The insurance policy must include a 30 day cancellation clause.
Step 3
Once your Film Permit Application, Location Worksheet, and Insurance documents have been completed, submit it to Amrit Manhas or drop off in person:
