Using renewable energy is just one of the strategies that the City uses to reduce its carbon footprint. The City has been demonstrating leadership through its efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions by switching to more energy efficient fuels and improving the energy efficiency of our City facilities. These resources share our energy management story.

Energy, planned. Partnering with BC Hydro Powersmart, the City of Nanaimo has in place a Corporate Strategic Energy Management Plan (2021) which includes commitments, reduction targets, actionable changes, and more.

Green fleet. An ongoing priority in energy management and sustainable energy use lies with the City's fleet of vehicles and equipment. Our Green Fleet planning is all about right-sizing, ecological and economical choices.
