Green Rebates
It feels good to help the environment, but helping the environment AND saving money? Now that's a win-win! Here's a list of rebates that may just be the extra incentive you need to switch over to a heat pump, get rid of that old woodstove or swap in an efficient, water-saving toilet. Improve your home while helping the Earth - our collective home!
Toilet Rebate. Saving water and saving money, one flush at a time. Most modern 6L toilets can save 50% or more water with each flush, while still ba-whooshing with as much bowl-clearing power as their 13L ancestors. Use this limited-time rebate and swap your old toilet for a new high-efficiency model.
Woodstove Changeout Rebate. Does Ol' Smoky live in your house? Switching an old smoky woodstove over to a low-emission woodstove burns a smaller hole in your pocket thanks to this rebate, and it helps to reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. Apply for the Woodstove Changeout Program rebate today!
Heat Pump Rebates. Ever wish your home would efficiently hold the perfect temperature inside, no matter what the thermometer reads outside? That's where a heat pump shines. Heat pumps circulate and regulate the air between outdoors and indoors, cooling or heating it as needed. One degree outside? Don't worry about it. 32 degrees? Not a problem! Apply for a rebate to save money and reduce your energy consumption now. Learn more below.
Home Energy Assessment Rebate. Not sure why your home doesn't hold the heat well? An energy-leaking home is like a leaky car - it loses efficiency and may ultimately be harmful to the environment. An EnerGuide Home Energy Assessment helps you identify where energy is used in your home and what energy efficiency upgrades make the most sense for you and your home. The City of Nanaimo is providing Nanaimo homeowners with a rebate for completing an initial Energuide assessment by a registered Energy Advisor.
City of Nanaimo Heat Pump and Home Energy Assessment rebate amounts are managed and processed as a part of the CleanBC Better Homes program. These top-up amounts add to the Provincial and Federal rebates available, and Nanaimo residents do not have to apply separately with the City to receive them. Read on for a summary of rebates available through CleanBC.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate. Do you have an electric vehicle (EV) or thinking of getting one? Rebates are available to support the installation of charging equipment for your EV. All rebates are additional to the rebates offered through BC Hydro. While the application process will be similar a separate application must be submitted to the City of Nanaimo and BC Hydro to receive both rebates. View the EV Rebate page here.
