Sustainability End Goal

Water level at Jump Lake must be 30% of reservoir capacity or above every day in a year.

Metric

Number of days per year that reservoir capacity is at or above 30%
365 days

How The Score Is Calculated

If the water level is at or above 30% every single day of the year, that means there are 365 days that meet the minimum threshold. So the score is 365 days/365 days = 100%.

Rationale and Analysis

Why We Measure This

The Water Resources Team at the City of Nanaimo makes sure the watershed reservoir level is always kept at 30%. This is to make sure there is enough drinking water for our community to use through periodic droughts.

How We Measure It

The City records water levels at the Jump Lake reservoir daily. They take action when the water level gets close to 30% anytime of the year.
