City staff continue regular garbage, recycling and organics collection. Be sure to check the recycling page for helpful curbside tips and tricks!
Parks, Recreation & Culture

Playgrounds, parks, trails, skateboard parks, Steve Smith Bike Park, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, lacrosse boxes, sports fields and dog parks are open with a number of guidelines to follow.
There are several fitness classes and summer camps being offered outdoors. Visit recreation.nanaimo.ca to register.

Indoor recreation facilities, such as recreation centres, arenas and pools, as well as City-owned cultural venues remain closed. A planning process is underway to reopen City of Nanaimo recreation facilities.

Parks & Recreation Summer Activities
The Playground Program returns this year at several of Nanaimo's favourite parks. This free program is geared for kids ages 5 to 12 years old that includes physical distancing activities such as crafts, sports and games. A StoryWalk and a "Park It" family challenge will also take place. Visit the summer activities page on the City's website for more information.Bowen Road Upgrades
Just a reminder that the Bowen Road utility and corridor upgrades are underway. Improvements include watermain replacement, road rehabilitation and improved safety. Keep an eye out for current traffic advisory announcements, including closures and detours scheduled for this week (June 5-10) at Kenworth Road and Bowen/Labieux intersection.
Business Survey
The City of Nanaimo is in the process of updating a number of key planning policy documents, including a comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. The input and insights gleaned from a business survey and other business engagement processes will help inform the direction, goals and priorities.
