Snow and Ice Update for January 8, 2022

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for up to 5 cm of snow today, then turning to rain later this afternoon. Expect changing driving conditions today.

If you do need to be on the roads, practice winter driving habits:

  • slow down,
  • give other vehicles lots of room,
  • make sure you vehicle is winter ready with good all-season or better yet, snow tires
  • pay extra attention for pedestrians, and
  • have patience for other drivers.

City snow clearing continue to move through priority 3 routes with backhoes and trucks to dig out the compact snow and ice. We have enough supplies of salt and brine to make it through this weekend and it is anticipated we will see a warming trend next week with our typical winter weather of rain and more rain.
