Community services that are provided by non-profit organizations
Status

The City of Nanaimo maintains an annual program to award civic grant funding to eligible non-profit organizations operating in the City of Nanaimo.
This grant is typically awarded for projects or activities which are beyond the scope of the City of Nanaimo services and represent an appropriate use of tax dollars to the benefit of the citizens of the City of Nanaimo.
Types of Funding
This grant program encompasses all types of community services that are provided by non-profit organizations. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Educational funding
- In-kind funding for facility rentals
- Community event funding
Eligibility Criteria
- The organization must provide non-profit services that provide a benefit to the residents of the City of Nanaimo
- The applicant organization must be a registered non-profit society or a registered charity
- The organization must have other sources of financial support and be able to demonstrate financial need
- The organization must have a large volunteer base and a broad base of support
Intakes
There will be two (2) annual intakes. Applications received by the annual intake deadline dates will be evaluated by the Finance Department staff in accordance with the policy. Staff recommendations will be brought forward to the Finance and Audit Committee.
First intake deadline: May 15
Second intake deadline: September 15
