The City provides grant funding under a number of programs. Please note this is not an exhaustive list of grants available in the community and we encourage you to explore other available options.

Security Check Fee Grants

Each year, Nanaimo City Council sets aside funding to help cover the cost of security check fees for eligible community organizations. This money is available to those community organizations that must have security checks carried out by the R.C.M.P. on employees and/or volunteers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The organization must provide non-profit services that provide a benefit to the residents of the City of Nanaimo
  • The applicant organization must be a registered non-profit society or a registered charity
  • The organization must have other sources of financial support and be able to demonstrate financial need
  • The organization must have a large volunteer base and a broad base of support

Intake

Applications can be received at any time and will be brought forward to the Finance and Audit Committee for consideration when applications are received.

There is a $500/year funding maximum award to any organization applying for this grant.
