City Service Updates
We have created a COVID-19 Recovery Plan to
provide a path forward for resumption of City operations in a safe and economically viable way. The plan outlines four steps that the City will take toward a gradual, safe and measured reopening of municipal facilities and resumption of City services
and programs that have been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let's Reimagine Nanaimo Together
The City has kicked of a public engagement process to reimagine Nanaimo's next 20 years. We are looking to find out what
matters most to you.Your ideas and feedback will help us set a direction in a number of areas as a community. Plans like the Official Community Plan, the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, an Economic Development Plan, Climate Action Plan,
Active Transportation Plan and Water Supply Strategic Plan will all be informed by this process. Join in the discussion at www.getinvolvednanaimo.ca from now until September.
Get your Beach Reports here!
Now that summer has finally arrived and settled in, we are looking for ways to cool off! And, what better way than to head to the beach for a swim? Have you ever found yourself arriving at the beach only to find it closed? Now, you can find out
if a beach is open or closed before you load up your gear by checking out the City's weekly beach reports on our website! City staff take weekly
water samples at Brannen Lake, Departure Bay, Long Lake, Upper Colliery Dam, Lower Colliery Dam and Westwood Lake to make sure the water is safe to swim in. Check it out today!
Keep your cardboard two by two!
Have you noticed a delay in your garbage and recycling collection lately? We are seeing higher amounts of waste being set out as a result of shifting household routines and shopping habits from the COVID-19. This has led to increased cardboard
at the curb. One way you can help us collect your waste more efficiently is to make sure you flatten cardboard and break it up into pieces no larger than two feet in an dimension. This makes sure you can fit more recycling in your blue cart and, come
collection day, it can easily tip into the truck. More information on recyclables can be found at www.nanaimo.ca/goto/recycle.
