Child Care Action Plan

The Mid Island Region Child Care Action Plan is now complete.  Click here to read the Action Plan and here to view the City of Nanaimo Report.  The Action Plan includes child care space targets for all municipalities within the Regional District of Nanaimo and recommendations for how local government can help support child care in our region.  The City of Nanaimo endorsed the space targets and will include the Action Plan as formal stakeholder input into the REIMAGINE NANAIMO  process.

The City would like to thank all our project partners (City of Parksville, District of Lantzville, Town of Qualicum Beach and the Regional District of Nanaimo) as well as our working group stakeholders (Snuneymuxw First Nation, Vancouver Island University, School District 68, School District 69, Island Health-Community Care and Licensing, the Early Learning Child Care Council of Oceanside, Childhood Development Centre, Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, and the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre) for their support and the Union of British Columbia Municipalities for providing project funding.
