Neighbourhood Associations
Neighbourhood associations are independent voluntary organizations in Nanaimo that advocate for the shared interests and goals of residents and may run programs or special events. The Neighbourhood Association Supports Policy outlines how the City recognizes and supports neighbourhood associations in Nanaimo.
Is there an active neighbourhood association in my area?
The City maintains a contact list and map of neighbourhood associations that meet the organizational criteria of the Neighbourhood's Support Policy, as well as a map of geographic area of interest for each group:

Neighbourhood Associations Annual Engagement Event and Priority Action Requests
City Plan encourages engagement with neighbourhood associations, and specifically Council hosting an annual engagement opportunity to hear the collective priorities of neighbourhoods. The Neighbourhood Associations Support Policy also notes that Council will host an annual engagement opportunity with recognized neighbourhood associations.
